My iPhone's Home Screen Was Bias (Again)

Firstly, I am one of "those people" who follows the news avidly from their smartphone - while your notifications might be from Snapchat, mine are from The Washington Post, the Economist, etc.

A couple weeks ago I had gotten notifications from some of the news sources I follow on my smartphone about Harvey Weinstein's firing from The Weinstein Company - The film company he helped found.

As I began reading through my sources I began comparing the approach of different headlines from CNN, The Washington Post, and Fox News.

They progressively became more objective as I went down the list. It started with CNN's which was the most opinionated of the three, then The Washington Post which was a little less opinionated, and finally (and most surprisingly) Fox News was the most objective.

CNN's headline was more drama oriented trying to get a rise out of their audience by saying, "the company he helped found," and "numerous incidents of alleged sexual harassment." It sounds like CNN is wanting the audience to say, "He can't be fired from his own company!" or, "Serves that pig right!"

The Washington Post was a tad more objective, but still incorporated that he co-founded the company extenuating the point that he's essentially being fired from his own company.

Lastly, Fox News was the best of the three, which surprises me because I personally thought it would've been The Washington Post. Nevertheless, Fox News was very to the point and void of any prejudgments by simply stating the above, "Harvey Weinstein fired from The Weinstein Company amid sexual harassment claims.

Traditionally, I have found that Fox and CNN are the more extremist in views an the more bias with their reporting, but it's a nice change to see Fox write a good headline. I know many of you are probably saying that I'm nitpicking, but if you read all three headlines then I'm sure you too will find that Fox is the most objective of them by being as to the point as possible with their headline.
